Oreo Filling
1 (.25 ounce) envelope unflavored gelatine
1/4 cup cold water
1 cup shortening
5 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Soften unflavored gelatine in cold water; set in heatproof cup in pan, simmering until clear. Let cool.
Cream together shortening, confectioners' sugar and vanilla extract. Add cooled gelatine mixture. Beat for 10 minutes. Put a spoonful onto one cookie. Top with another cookie, then press cookies gently together to spread the filling.
Oreo truffles are bite sized treats that are so easy to make. Add mints or other candies to add a special touch.
Makes 24 one inch balls:
Approx. 16 Oreos (any kind)
4 oz of cream cheese
Chocolate Chips of your choice (about 2 cups)
Crushed candies (mints, M&Ms, chocolate
shavings, etc.) for decoration
Crush the oreos into small crumbs using a blender or rolling pin. Pour into a medium sized bowl. Add the cream cheese and mix with clean hands. Refrigerate half an hour to firm up. Next you can add any extracts or crushed candy if desired. Roll into 1 inch balls and place onto a cookie sheet or plate covered with wax paper. Refrigerate.
Next, melt the chocolate. Microwave or double boil. Take the cookie balls out and dip in chocolate. Refrigerate and decorate with piped chocolate or candy.
