What you need to do is go on to itunes on the new mac. Then, apply the password for the account, and your library is at your fingertips. If this does not work, open the itunes on the old computer and enable it to share. The new mac should be able to find it when the new mac's itunes is open. Highlight all of the songs and drag it into your library. When you try to play the songs, it may say that you do not have permission and must enter the itunes password. Enter your iTunes account password, and then you've just transfered your library.

You have a few options here.

  • When you get a new mac, you'll be asked if you'd like to transfer data from another Mac. You can use this to transfer import files like the ones from your old Itunes library to your new Mac.
  • If you have been using the inbuilt iTunes Library function, you can go to Finder, choose the file path: Music > iTunes > iTunes Media (>Music , if you only want to transfer the music only) and then copy the folder to the external hard drive. Once on the new mac, follow the same path and put it under iTunes Media file or to the "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder. When you launch iTunes on the new mac, it will automatically refresh.
  • If you are not using the Library to manage your iTunes, you can save the files from the location you have saved your media onto an external hard drive. This allows you to backup and save information, and transfer it from computer to computer. The size you buy is up to you, and there available at places like Best Buy and Future shop, and most computer stores. Also try on line stores if you want to find a bargain.
  • Use an on-line data hosting site (Such as adrive.com- Just Google it) and back it up there. Then download it from your browser on your new computer.
  • You can also sign into your iTunes using the same accounts while both laptops are connected to the same internet hotspot... then browse your other laptop's iTunes and download the songs that way. It is really easy because you don't have to waste time copying the songs to another device and the copying them onto the new computer. As long as your internet connection is fast, it will be rather quick.

Hope this helps!
