To mute the music (for a specific period of time) you will have to Split it on the Time-line view of Windows Movie Maker.
> Move the green Advance bar to the point in your project that you want the audio to stop, and the video to start playing.
> Click the Split button (beneath Preview pane)
> Drag the Advance bar to the right (for the length of the video inserted)
> Click the Split button again (where you wish the audio to begin again)
> Then, right-click on the 'middle section' and choose Mute from the menu
