I am not an expert, but certain foods seem to be mostly water, which fills you up without adding a lot of calories. When I was really thin, I used to eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. I drank lots of water. These days it seems to have a strange taste in a lot of places, so you might want to just carry your own filtered water. Let yourself get thirsty before drinking, it tastes better that way and after a while you'll actually want to drink water instead of sweetened or carbonated drinks.

I know everyone loves cakes, cookies, and other sweets, but when I was thin I almost never ate that stuff. A lot of people put pressure on you to eat these, like for holidays including birthdays, if you must, take a ceremonial bite and then leave the rest. When you eat lots of healthy foods you lose the craving for empty calorie items, or at least I did. I also used to eat very slowly to make the food last longer and to savor the taste. Try eating really small portions and discover how little you can eat and still feel like you had a reasonable taste to satisfy your desire for that food. You may be surprised.

Some people avoid any processed or packaged foods because of the hidden calories and questionable ingredients, some which intentionally increase your appetite. Remember, food manufacturers main goal is to sell product, not provide healthy products, unless they specifically say that, and sometimes not even then. Try to eat as much natural foods, like fresh fruits and vegetables, beans, nuts, etc. as possible and avoid anything that you do not know what is in it. Some people even avoid restaurant foods, or at least limit them, as the main goal of restaurants is to provide food that tastes good, with no regard to your ongoing health. Some stores specialize in selling products with less additives, like Trader Joes, and I am sure there are many others. The prices can be reasonable, considering you eat less because of the lack of additives, the foods taste better, and I feel healthier. The health benefits are worth it alone, like keeping your weight in a healthy zone.
