more than likely if u can hear it trying to unlock then one of the rods have fallen out of the latching mechanisioms. take the plastic molding off the back hatch glass from the inside, there are 2 screws located midway between the glass hard to get to and where the pull down handle is u have to pop the covers off to expose the screws (remove) and check the left &right side latches to see if the rods have fallen out check the motor also where the pull handle is and see if they have fallen out (more s-----y enginerring) if so stick them back in and wind some wire around them to hold them in (better than the little plastic pieces gm uses) you'll needs some needle nose pliers to get a hold of it but this was what i did
