Rustolium is a good, high quality enamel and is one of the more expensive spray paints around. For an average size 2 door car you will need to start with at least 2 cases (24 cans) of Rustolium. To start, first make sure the surface to be painted is super clean or it will not last. Wipe it down completely with mineral spirits. Mask off all the chrome trim, windows, emblems, bumpers, tires and wheels. Anything you do not want paint on make sure it is covered. Painting is the easy part. It's all about prepping the car for paint. The better you prepare the better the finished product is going to look. In other words, if you spend the extra time masking off and cleaning, your car has the potential to look great. Alternatively, if you simply spray paint on the car without taking care in the prep, chances are it will look like....well, you get the picture. Apply light, even coats starting with a light even coat all the way around. Let the paint set up thoroughly before adding additional coats. Patience is the word. If you spray to heavily it will run and start to look like....well, you get the picture...:-) Keep in mind it will probably take the better part of an afternoon to paint your car. I'll share a secret with you: soak your cans of paint in warm water for five or ten minutes before using them. After soaking them shake them really good. After you shake them shake um some more for good measure. The better they are mixed the better the paint will spray for you. Remember: patience and prep will make you car look great.
