It is best to get a professional to do your ears for two reasons: To keep infection at bay and also you don't miss the perfect spot for the hole and end up with more than one hole in your ear that is in the wrong spot even for another smaller earring.

Hygiene is super important when puncturing your body. You wouldn't want a doctor giving you a shot with a needle he dug out the back of a drawer and washed off either. You might be fine doing it at home, but it is so cheap to get it done professionally there isn't much point in taking the chance.

You should not pierce your ear by yourself... or else it will hurt a lot more and you will be risking infection. You should go to your local pharmacy, doctor or piercing parlor and they will pierce it with an earring gun or sterile needle. It does not hurt. Well first of all if you have had your ears pierced already then at first they will check if the scar tissue in your ears too hard to pierce again.

Next they will mark on your ear with a pen where they are going to pierce.

Then they will rub some cleaning stuff on your ear and then get the piercing gun and pierce your ear shooting the earring through your ear. ( it doesn't hurt because ive had them pierced six times and it never hurt)

Finally they will rub some more cleaning stuff on it, twist your earring around then it's all done.

-It takes six weeks before you can take them out or replace them with other earrings so it heels inside and then you can take them out or replace them.
