Banks aren't lending right now and unless you have a perfect credit score, a REALLY nice down payment (about 20%) and a job that you have had forever you really don't have a chance of buying anything. Banks are still trying to KEEP people in the homes they are about to lose, making up for billions in bad mortgages and still stay afloat with all of the bad debt they have accumulated. So if you are serious about buying a house make sure your credit is in top shape and you have a good downpayment because its a great time to be a buyer but you have to look squeaky clean for a bank right now.
