After the plant has totally died back in the spring "after flowering" Dig the bulbs up wipe off any excess soil then lay the bulbs on newspaper in garage or someplace cool and dry for about a week. Then put them in a paper sack or in one of those plastic mesh sacks you get onions in from the store and store them in a cool dry dark area of your basement if you have a basement until it's time to plant again for the following year

To care for tulips remember to dead head the flowers. You will never remove the leaves. Dig the entire plant out of the ground once every three years.
