It would depend on the type of ceiling that is being installed. Ask a more specific question, like "How do you install a suspended ceiling?", or "How do you install a drywall ceiling in a basement?"...something along those lines.

When installing a drop ceiling, first a metal framework is put into place, suspended from the true ceiling at the desired height. Then the panels are cut and inserted into the metal framework. There are several different methods for installation depending on what materials are being used and other factors, YouTube has many excellent video tutorials that show step by step instructions on exactly how to complete any type of drop ceiling.
