Reading a birth chart requires a good understanding of the influences in it. Looking up the interpretations of the following will give interesting insights, especially when the native learns how to conglomerate the influences and interpret how they all affect each other.
Start with the house cusps, particularly the Ascendant/Descendant (personal expression and relationships) and the Nadir/Midheaven axis (home life, family and work). These are the cardinal points.
Next look up the planets in the signs and then the houses.
Then look up the aspects between these points.
Last put all this together.
There are Child Lines that in represent that you'll have children and the amount you have, is the number of kids you'll have. They're located on the percussion of your hand (the edge of your hand that's on your pinky side) near or on the mount of Mercury- which is a flesh bump that's under the pinky or in between the ring finger and the pinky- and they are small vertical lines that normally branch from marriage lines; which are located in the same spot, but they run horizontally and they represent either marriages or VERY close relationships that stand out from the rest. I do not believe in child lines, but I hope this helps.

Scars don't mean anything on palmistry, however, there's a LOT of ways to read palms and I know two, so there could be another way to read them where scars do mean something, but as far as I know, there isn't any significance with them.
