∙ 8y agoThe easiest way is to erase your system restore files - as long as your system is stable and you don't think you'll need them at the moment.
Right click "my computer" - select "Properties" - open "System Restore" and check the "turn off system restore on all drives" box. Click "apply" then "ok".
Then untick the box and click "apply" then "ok" again to restart System Restore. Your old system restore files are now deleted along with the virus hiding in there!

∙ 8y agoDestroy the Torjan Horse VB.3.BH In my Grisoft Anti-Virus Program I clicked on the line between Object and Result in the top grey area. Hold the cursor down and drag the line to the right to reveal the complete file sequence of this Trojan Horse. Mine was C:\WINDOWS\Temporary internet Files\CONTENT.IE5\2VE7KNQR\UCSearch[1].CAB:\UCSearch.ocx Then go to Find on Start Menu to Files or Folders.In the 'Containing Text' line type C:\WINDOWS then type Find. The search will take a few minutes, there may be hundreds or thousands of files. Downarrow through the 'in folder' column till you find C:WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files. Downarrow through them till you find 2VE7KNQR. (may be caps or small letters). Click on this file. In the file box click arrow right till you come to UCSearch. This should appear as an open file folder lost (embeded) among all your minor temp. internet files. Right click on it and delete it. Go back and run your Grisoft AVG and you should be clean of this Trojan Horse. Regards, Caroline

I've lived with PURITYSCAN.U on my PC for months. I think I have just successfully removed it. It was so obvious I can�t believe I didn�t think of it before. AVG reported that C:\documents and settings\administrator\application data\vb???.exe was infected. Be careful when using MS DOS commands, especially if in step 4 there is more than 1 file listed, with SHR attributes. I took the following steps: 1. Go to a command prompt2. type C:3. type CD \4. type attrib vb*.exe /sThis should list a file in the application folder with SHR attributes (System Hidden Readonly) 5. Type attrib �s �h �r vb*.exe /s6. Now you can use windows explorer to delete the file on my system the file was called vbixx.exe, also remove it from the recycle bin or your AV will still pick it up.
