You should notice 4 small holes, one in each corner of the radio. A special tool (Ford, most audio shops have/ sell them), shaped like two wire horseshoes, are inserted into those holes and sprung outward. This forces metal tags inside the dash inward, so that the radio can be removed. I have been able to fashion substitues out of heavy spring steel wire, but I would suggest you buy/ get the tool!

You will need special removal tools. They are cheap enough to buy on e-bay, or take your car to a place where they install radios and have them pop it out for you. It only takes a few seconds with the right tools.

Actually the right tools they are refering to can be bought at Walmart and their only a couple dollars but when i took out my stock raido in my tempo the pins that hold the raido in werent in the right spot for the removal tool to hit and get the raido out (they slid down a little) so i ended up getting mad and tearing the face of the old raido off and then i could see the pins that hold the raido in and pulled them out and the raido will come out, you will also need a adapter to install the aftermarket stereo and that can also be bought at walmart for about $8 dollars

you first need to remove the rear console box; there are two screws inside the console box and one under the cup holder in front of the console box, then lift the console box up and out of the way, then remove the two screws at the bottom of the front console piece and the screw behind the ashtray, with those screws out you can remove the front console piece, then remove the two screws in the stowage compartment under the radio unit. with those two screws out you can pull the radio unit forward and disconnect the 16 pin connector and the radio antenna, now pull the radio out the rest of the way be careful not to cross any wires back there, there is a fuse that is very very hard to get to if you blow it by crossing wires

Still need an answer? Remove plastic dash cover, radio itself should have 2 spring tabs on the right and left side, not the top, you must push all these tabs in and pull radio out.

It depends on the model of the ford radio and year of the car. if its a slightly older ford there should be 2 small holes on each side of the radio where you can insert some u-shaped release keys (which you can buy from somewhere like halfords) and you can then pull the radio out. if its a newer ford with the 6000 model radio in there should be 4 slots on the outside which again you need release keys for. Go to www.fitaudio.com for help and pictures on removal.

There are 3 holes right above your AC control. Unscrew them, it should pop right out.
