I have a 2-part suggestion, which has worked for me:
Step 1) Take a piece of brown paper (of the kind from which a paper bag is made), place it over the stain, and iron over this paper with a hot iron. This hopefully will cause the oil stain to be absorbed by the brown paper.
Step 2) After the ironing, pour a thick layer of talcum powder onto the spot. Leave overnight and then launder as usual.

After removing the bulk of it with a blunt plastic tool or your fingernails, try covering it with absorbent paper and use a warm, not hot, iron. Standard cleaners will then suffice

∙ 6y agoPlace a brown paper grocery bag on both sides of the table cloth, and press with a warm iron on the paper. Wax melts, and is absorbed by the brown paper. Keep switching to clean paper until no more wax melts.

∙ 16y agoWhat i have done was place a old terrycloth towel over the wax, then ran a hot iron over the towel until the wax was absorbed into the towel, and away from the clothes.

∙ 15y agoWrap an ice cube in plastic and hold it on the wax for a couple of minutes. It will probably crack right off when it's cold. Repeat. If there is a residual stain, dry-clean.
