I had this problem on a 94 Bonneville after we had fixed the brakes. After I disconnected the battery and reconnected the light went off and the dinging stopped. Not sure if this was related or just coincidence.

Remove existing one and match it up at auto parts store
It has to be removed at the back of the assy. If you can't get to it through the trunk, you need to remove the light.
Because it is
replacement of brake light bulb-- open trunk, look on inside of back of tail,brake light housing, there are retaining plastic screw on nuts, maybe covered by trunk lining of fabric. remove retaining nuts and push housing out, have someone to press brakes if not sure of which bulb to replace. locate and twist bulb housing out.
In order to change the brake light, check your manual for directions. You will need to remove the cover and replace the burnt out bulb.
