You will have to remove the caliper and rotor. Then. use a hammer and a punch to drive the stud out through the back of the hub. Take the broken stud with you to a parts store where they can match you up with a new one. Hit the old one out with a hammer and use a nut and an impact wrench to install… the new one (MORE)
There is no need for a special tool to remove the caliper. It is removed like most other GM calipers. Retract the piston in the caliper and remove the Allen bolts that mount the unit to the A frame, then raise it up. addition There is a special socket available at any parts store which is alot us…er friendly than fighting with sticky caliper pins with an Allen wrench. it's a 5 dollar socket that is basically an Allen wrench head jammed into a socket. Answer . remove pass side strut, steering knuckle, drive shaft and exhaust to get it out through front wheel well Or take to a qualified mechanic and pay $500 labor Take my advice ONLY REPLACE WITH AN AC-DELCO ALTERNATOR you dont want to pay that kind of labor again
You have to remove the water bottle on the passenger side. That will give you room to take it out of the vehicle. New Answer I did it without removing the washer fluid tank. 1. Remove the cover over the windshield wiper motor. (Pops off, held on by spring clamps.) 2. Disconnect the wiper linkage …from the motor. 3. Disconnect the driver's wiper linkage arm from the main pivot arm in the center. 4. Remove the wiper motor bracket. This bracket stretches from one side of the engine compartment to the other, and is connected on both ends to the wiper brackets, as well as to the main pivot arm in the center. There are two bolts at each position. The center and driver's side are facing to the rear and you have to remove them by feel. They are 10mm. A 1/4 drive ratchet will fit, but center and driver's will be difficult anyway. A GearWrench would probably be better. 5. Remove the serpentine belt. 6. Remove the electrical connectors from the alternator. 7. Remove the rear bolts from the alternator. You won't be able to see either one without a mirror. One sits at about the center of the alternator, the other at the rear, about 1 to 1 1/2 inches lower. Both are 15mm. You'll need a wrench, as a ratchet won't fit. Don't have a stubby, but that might help. A GearWrench would have been great. 8. Remove the forward pivot bolt. (Also 15mm, ratchet will work here.) 9. Remove the alternator. You may have to turn/rotate/flip it to get it out and you may have to move the linkages for the wipers as well. Once I got to this point, it was pretty easy. Steps 4 thru 7 are a real serious pain in the back/arms/sides/hands, etc. I debated the washer tank method, but I found that once I had removed the wiper motor, I had enough room. You would have to do all this to get the tank out, anyway. Hope this helps. It's exactly what I did and it worked. This is from the GM service manual. Run the wipers to full travel on the windshield. Disconnect positive terminal from the battery, yes actually do it, you will be disconnecting an unfused wire that runs to the positive terminal on the battery. Remove 1 bolt from the 2 engine mounts (not the 4 holding it to the radiator support) and flip them up. Set the parking brake, put van in neutral. Use a ratchet strap on the D/S engine lifting point to the rear of the bumper facing the radiator and pull the motor forward. Don't crush your cooling fans. Remove the serpentine belt using 3/8 square drive socket in belt tensioner. Remove 1 bolt from the side (or front, I forget) and 2 from the rear. 15mm. Disconnect plug and lugged wires from alternator. Remove alternator from bracket and let rest against firewall. Remove 15mm bolts from alternator bracket and remove. Remove belt tensioner with 1 bolt, 15mm. Remove 3 bolts from power steering pump through the holes in the pulleys. A magnet is helpful to remove the bolts after they are loose. I believe they were 13mm. Reach down back of engine and disengage power steering lines from retaining clip, do not disconnect any power steering hoses! Pull power steering pump from it's assembly point and let rest down beside engine. You may find it helpful to remove the belt route diagram/guard in front of the power steering pump. I believe it was a 7/32" bolt, in order to move the power steering pump. Finagle the alternator out of the van. Get ready to pay $200+ for a new one. Up level models with rear A/C and such use the 125amp alternator. (MORE)

I have a 97 venture, but the 2002 is likely the same. First, make sure the bucket is adjusted to the rearmost position. Next, reach down behind the bucket, near the floor, and there will be a fabric strap w/loop........Pull up on the strap and it will release the latch in the rear of the bucket, rel…easing both ends from the hold-down bars (one on each side - they are recessed below the floor, in a small cup) . Then, tilt / rotate the bucket forward and upward and let it pivot on the 2 front hold-down bars.........Carefully lift the bucket completely up and out of the front bars. Reverse the procedure to re-install.....The rear latch will automatically lock as you push the bucket down and into the rear bars. Make sure the front hooks on the bucket are latched in the front OK.....good luck! (MORE)
Begin by removing the alternator belt from your 2001 Chevy Expressalternator. Remove the wiring harness from the back of thealternator. Remove the alternator retaining bolts. Reverse theprocess to install the new alternator.
Less than $200 for the alternator itself. You might also want to consider getting your serpentine belt changed at the same time though. A loose belt could also cause problems and odds are that it is about time to do it on a 2002 Suburban if you have not done so already. Total bill for both of …the above is probably $700-$800 including labor (conservatively - 2008). (MORE)
Remove the serpentine belt by going clockwise with a 3/8 breaker bar on the belt tentioner UNDER the truck (I had to use my 1/2" breaker bar with a 3/8" adapter). Have someone remove the belt off the alternator as you remove tension under the truck (jack the truck up just a bit to fit) there is a sq…uare 3/8" for a socket ratchet to fit into on the tentioner underneath. Then remove the 2 - 13mm bolts on the alternator on top of the truck (under the hood). They are long bolts and rather tight, I loosened them with a breaker bar and then air ratcheted them out the rest of the way. Even with my cheap $20 air ratchet and $40 compressor, it does the job because there is not much room in there. Now pry the alternator loose with a BIG screwdriver, side by side until it's flopping around a bit. Then remove the 1/2" nut off the alternator wire and remove the wire. Now the fun part, getting it out of the engine compartment. It comes out BACK first, take the bolt to the wire out first and the entire black rear towards you (barely enough room). The pulley will be facing towards the engine and wiggle back and forth until it slides out. Good luck on the arm cuts! I didn't put my new one back in yet but I am sure it will be fun. Tom. (MORE)
Drive the car onto ramps then use a jack to raise the right axle and make some space between the axle and stablizer bar.
First remove battery cable. Remove drive belt with (13mm) or (15mm) I cant remember which wrench on belt tentioner, pulling towards front of car. Then 15mm bolt on the bottom of altenator. Then 15mm long bolt between chain housing and plastic intake. Then a few inches to the right just loosen the… 3rd bolt. Its a tight squeeze, but work it out so you can unplug it and remove the 13mm nut on the back.(that wire goes to the battery) (MORE)
The vehicle should be shut-off. First remove the bezel and trim around the head unit. Second, remove the two head unit retaining screws. The head unit can slide out. Once out enough the rear wiring harness attached can be disconnected.
passager sider airbag cover how do I get it off I'm changing the heater core. Leave the air bag in the dash and remove the whole dash assembly. I would recommend purchasing a shop manual for that vehicle. It will pay for itself with this job.
open the hood then undo the positive red battery cable then undo the negative cable and you will need a 10mm socket wrench to loosen the safety clamp hold plate that keeps the battery from turning over do this and your done
The fenders on these old style vans were welded on. You'll have to drill the welds out to get it off.
This is moderately difficult. Disconnect the battery, use a 15mm box wrench to pull tensioner and slip belt off, there is a top bolt and a bottom bolt on alternator to take loose, also 15mm. once it it loose you can unplug the one wire, and take the nut off the battery terminal, wiggle the alternato…r around and take it out, install in reverse order.. Get a ratchet with a 3/8" drive. You may need a short piece of pipe for leverage. You could use a 1/2" drive (bigger wrench) with a reducer on it. Or even a breaker bar with a reducer on it, as long as it is 3/8" at the end.. Crawl under the truck. On the lower passenger side you will see the belt …tensioner pulley. In the arm, between the pulley and its pivot, you will see a 3/8" square hole. Put the wrench in it. With the wrench set correctly, lift the tensioner and slip the belt off of a pulley. (MORE)
First you must remove the lug nuts from around the wheel, and then you must take the wheel off of the braking system

On a 1997 model. 1. Park on a level surface as you'll need to put the van into the 1st in order to remove the plastic panel. 2. Pull off the dashboard panel that covers the center dash (radio, heater, etc.). It should extend all the way to the left side of the dash, going over the steering whee…l. You'll need to unhook all the wires connected to the panel. (Rear wiper control, rear hatch release, headlights, foglights) 3. The radio should be exposed. There are 2 metal tabs on either side of the radio that you will need to unhook in order to remove the radio. You should be able to get these to release with a flat headed screwdriver. 4. Slide the radio out until you can reach the wires connected to the back of it. Pull the clips to release the wires and the radio should slide all the way out. If you are planning on putting a non-stock radio in it, you will need to buy a wiring harness (available at wal-mart) and a radio adapter (also available at wal-mart). You will also need a faceplate. I would recommend buying that from a specialty store as wal-marts faceplate kits dont typically fit well. Hope this helped! If it did please recommend me. -Brad (MORE)

It is very simple to remove a Chevy Express grill. All you will need is a Philips head screwdriver and a 7mm socket. When you pop the hood, you will see a screw on the top far left and right of the grill. Simply remove with the 7mm socket. Then take the Philips screwdriver and remove the 2 yellow re…flectors. you will then see 2 more screws you need to remove. Once you have removed all 4 screws, the 2 yellow reflectors, you will be able to just have the grill just pop off. Simple as that! (MORE)
