Hey Chris==Some radator repair shops repair evaporator cores but I persomally am not a fan of it. If it rotted through in one place I don't think it will be long until ti rots through at another. It is a big job to replace it plus you have to have a refrigerant recycler to dispose of the refrigerant. Goodluckjoe

∙ 17y agoHelped a mechanic friend of mine replace the thermostat on my 1993 GTI 2.0 8v (2E engine) recently. Easiest if done from underneath.The thermostat housing is behind the bracket that holds the pas pump etc.Undo the pump bolts and swing it out of the way.Can't remember if we had to do the same with the alternator.

∙ 15y agoI truly feel that this is one job you will regret having done. For a skilled technician it is about an 8 hour job. The dash assembly will have to be removed. Go to an auto parts house and purchase a Hayne's manual. That should be your biggest help.
