How do you replace headlight bulb on the driver's side in the 2002 Chrysler sebring?
I'm assuming you have a convertible since from what I've read, the sedan bulb replacement is very straightforward. To replace the bulb in a convertible you need to remove the headlight assembly by removing 2 bolts, one near each end of the assembly. These are (I believe) 8mm bolts so don't go removing the larger ones. Once the bolts are out you can remove the assembly. Remove retaining ring, pull bulb assembly out and unplug the bulb. Reverse directions for re-installation.

There are 2 round caps on the rear side of light housing, under the hood. You have to unscrew them. You then should see the light wiring. You have to remove a little metal clip that hold the light bulb in place, unclip and remove light.
I've done this many times. Living in Washington, you find your lights are on a lot in the rain, etc. Pop the hood and you will see the wells where the headlights are located. It's pretty straight forward, no tools are required, but it is a knuckle buster. In the well you will see either a black or w…hite plastic part that has a wrapped electrical cable coming from the back. The part is a 3" diameter and cylindrical in shape. It appears like it is attached to a sheet metal piece. (and it is) Get a hold of the part with your hands and turn it counter-clockwise. If you can't turn it with your hands get a large vice grip, but dont over squeeze on the vice grips you don't want to break this part. Once you have the part loosened, (about a quarter to an eight of turn will move it out of its locking grooves) just pull it carefully straight out. Be careful the bulb is in this tube. Carefully pull the bulb out. Insert the new bulb, position the tube back in its hole, turn it clockwise and that's it. The one by the battery is a little harder. I have had to remove the battery to take out the piece on a couple of occasions. Good luck.\ (MORE)

I have a 1996 Chrysler sebring jxi The driver side head light is blown Can you change the bulb or do you have replace the whole assembly?
Answer to Headlight Bulb change . You can change the bulb by taking the backside of the light assembly off first! The small bulb can be bought at Pep Boys or any parts st…ore at a low price. Have parts dealer look up part for you. The front head light glass doesn't need to come off at all. (MORE)

Disconnect the wire connector by gently pulling upward on the tab and pulling away from the front of …the bulb. then take your new bulb, place the ring on it and place it into the headlight housing without touching the bulb if at all possible. twist the locking ring clockwise until it stops or 1/3 of a turn and reconnect the wire harness. \n. \nthere are some orientation grooves in the bulb and on the headlight housing to make sure the bulb is in the correct position. if these arent lined up you will not be able to twist on the locking ring. the electrical connector is also a shaped connector which will not allow you to install it improperly without extreme force to insert it into the connector. You have to remove the battery, then the frame holding the battery and the fuse box. After that you can remove the cover to access the bulbs. Its an annoying hassle just to replace the bulb.
Answer . I just did this today on the passenger side headlight of my 2001 sebring. It took some time to figure it out, but I got it done today. You do have to remove the headlight assembly to change the bulb. Instructions: 1. Unscrew the 2 small bolts that hold the assembly on, they are abo…ve the headlight assembly near the corners of the headlight. There should be 2 larger bolts between the small bolts that don't need to be removed. On mine, 1 of the small bolts had "4.8" on it and the large bolts had "9.8" on them. The recommended tool is a socket wrench, but I was able to do it with a crescent wrench held vertically. 2. Pull headlight assembly out in the car's forward direction. On the edge of the blinker side of the headlight, near the vertical center of the headlight, there is a peg on the assembly that goes in a hole on the frame, preventing the assembly from sliding sideways until the peg is out of the hole. After that is out, you have to get the bottom lip of the assembly above the top of the fender, I found that this took some force to pull out, but I don't think I broke anything by using that force. Note that you can only pull this out so far because of the wires connected to it. 3. Unplug the wire socket from the old bulb. To do this you'll probably need a screwdriver or other long metal rod (I used the long bolt that was previously holding the assembly in place) to get the plastic hooks of the wire socket around the side of the block protruding from the top of the bulb housing. Once the plastic hooks are no longer hooked onto the block, you can slide the wire socket off, unplugging it. 4. Unscrew the ring with ridges on the outside (only requires 1/3 of a rotation max, then it is unlocked and pulls off). I found it difficult to hand turn but was eventually able to do it with just my hand. 5. Pull the old bulb out, it's pretty straightforward. 6. Put the new bulb in, it has 3 grooves on it that line up with 3 ridges on the bulb housing, and as I was told by the autoparts clerk, don't touch the bulb with bare hands because your skin oils will decrease its lifespan. I chose to wear rubber gloves for this step to avoid contact with the bulb. 7. Screw the ridged wheel back on to lock in the bulb. 8. Plug the wire socket into the new bulb, the plastic hooks should be locked around the protruding block. At this point you can test the headlights to see if the new bulb works. 9. Slide the headlight assembly back into place; I found that I had to put the peg in the hole first, then try to get the bottom lip of the assembly past the top of the fender, this took some force, and there were some sounds that gave me some concern, but I don't think anything was broken. 10. Screw the bolts back in. (MORE)

"The bulb snaps in from behind the light.". It's a little more involved then that - make sure your lights are off and DO NOT touch the new bulb (it will impact it's life span).. 1 - First you have to unplug the bulb by pulling the connector straight back.. 2 - Rotate the white plastic restrainer …clip until it comes off.. 3 - Pull the bulb out.. However, sometimes there is a clip locking the connector to the bulb that needs to be lifted with a screw driver, which due to the limited space is very difficult. If that's the case skip step 1 above, complete 2 & 3, and then use the screw driver to undue the clasp.. To replace it:. 1 - Notice there are 3 notches on the base of the bulb, 2 of which are closer to each other. While you are trying to put in the bulb look through the clear plastic lens of the headlight and match the chrome tabs to these.. 2 - Once you line them up, gently push it into place until it seats itself.. 3 - Replace the white plastic restrainer by rotating it.. 4 - Plug the connector in. Why does the driver's side low beam headlight on my 1995 Ford Explorer LTD not work and I have already replaced the bulb?
If the bulb is in fact a working bulb, and the passenger side works, then I would assume the problem lies within the driver side socket. This is possibly due to corrosion or something similar restricting the contact between bulb and socket.
First, open your hood and prop it open using the hood support rod. Stand in front of the vehicle, looking towards the engine. Now look on the top and slightly behind the headlight(s) and you will see (2) 8mm bolt heads that run straight up and down, one on each side of the light housing. Remove both… bolts and pull the headlight assembly straight forward to remove it. Now you will see the bulb retaining ring, do not turn this yet. First, unplug the wiring connector from the bulb, then twist the locking ring counterclockwise until free. Remove the old bulb and replace with the new bulb. EXTREMELY IMPORTANT--DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS ON THE BULB, HANDLE THE NEW BULB WITH A CLEAN RAG/ PAPER TOWEL/ NAPKIN. Any finger prints/ grease on the new bulb will result in a hot spot on the new bulb and it will burn out again. (MORE)

Headlight Bulb Replacement - Generic Instructions . I am not familiar with your make and model, but on the later model vehicles the procedure is generally about the same, so these instructions will have be generic until someone who knows can provide make and model specific instructions.. Most he…adlamp assembly bulb replacement is from the rear of the assembly. The lamp-holder is inserted into a socket at the rear of the headlamp assembly. The lamp-holder usually has two or three locking tabs which hold the lamp-holder in the headlamp assembly.. The holder is usually removed by turning it counterclockwise [anticlockwise] about a quarter turn [or less] to release the locking tabs, and then remove the holder by gently pulling it out of the assembly.. Once the holder is clear of the assembly, the bulb can usually be removed by simply pulling it out of the holder, but to be safe examine both the replacement bulb and the old bulb in the holder to try to determine IF it may have a press and turn socket.. If the bulb has small locking pins on the base, that type of bulb is removed by gently pressing the bulb into the socket and turning counterclockwise. The new bulb is inserted in the reverse.. The final step is to replace the lamp-holder into the headlamp assembly, gently twisting clockwise to lock the tabs, and then test the headlights for proper operation. (MORE)

Firstly, don't believe the Chrysler dealer when he tells you thatthe interior door handle can't be supplied separately because it'san integral part of the door panel and it can't be removed. Theywanted to charge me approximately $700.00 for a new door panel.Nice try, chaps. Remove the door panel. Th…is is really easy. There are 3 screws onthe bottom edge of the panel, one sunk into the hand-grip recessthat you use to pull the door shut and one behind the door handlethat you use to open the door. Remove these screws. Pull off the panel. It's held in place by a series of push-fitpins. Start at the bottom of the panel, there are some indents thatmake it easy to get your fingers behind. Once you've done that, work your way around, popping the panel off. If you can't getsufficient grip, use a nylon prying tool, not a screwdriver! Once the panel is free, disconnect the 2 plugs that attach to theelectric window control switch-pack and the central locking switchon the inside of the door panel. Now disconnect the door handle mechanism from the push/pull rodthat operates the door latch. You might need to pry it off, but ifthe handle is broken, it'll probably be detached and loose anyway. Now the panel is free, flip it over. (I was working outside, I usedan old blanket to rest the panel on to avoid scratching it.) Thedoor handle assembly is held in place by 2 small hex-screws. Removethem and push the door handle assembly out with your thumbs. Easy! Now install your replacement handle and reverse the above process. If you don't have a replacement handle available, you can get yourdoor working again by tying some string to the end of the push/pullrod and threading it trough the door handle assembly. Replace thepanel and you can open the door by pulling the string. I tied aloop in the end of my string to make it easier to use. Replacement door handles are hard to find. I could only find one onthe internet and that was $133.00. I couldn't bring myself to shellout that much for a plastic handle when I could make it work withstring. I found a salvage yard with a Sebring in stock. The handle cost$10.00. Much more acceptable. Hope this helps and good luck with your repair! (MORE)
