This is not the easiest job you can tackle, but you CAN do it. But unless you're highly intuitive, or have done some mechanic work, it'll beat you. THE BEST WAY TO START is to buy a repair manual for your model car. I like the Chilton's version, but there are others. Haynes comes to mind. I bought a Chilton's through Amazon.com for my '89 Geo Metro. Under $15, and the best investment you'll make. I won't go further. I personally would not tackle it without a manual. Good luck (I have to do the same thing on both doors of my 2000 Camaro SS, and I'm dreading it.)

it's riveted in. I drove around for years with a broken drivers side window motor... The cheapest way to fix the problem is to get a new door......Promise. Shops were saying nearly $700 to replace the motor.....

I'll let you know. I need to do mine. The sash clips separated from the window, and the end result is that the arms that lift and lower the window got all bent up.

So far I have bought the arms. That cost about 40 bucks. I'm gonna go ahead and replace the motor while I'm in there. The motor is about 70 bucks. I'm gonna call the dealer for the sash clips and glue. I don't know how much that will be yet.

WHY does the Power window on driver side stop working on a 2000 Lincoln ls.?

You need to replace the window motor relay. I've had all 4 window motor relays replaced 3 times each and the driver side replaced 4 times. Seems like a poor design or poor OEM quality.
