I just today, 11/25/2005, changed an ignition switch on a 1981 Ford F150 that has only 63,000 miles. It took less than 2 minutes. Under the ignition switch there is a small 1/8" hole that has a pin in it. It is spring loaded. Turn the ignition almost to the start position and depress the pin into the column. Pull the ignition switch straight out. Look down into the cavity where the switch came out and notice the 3/32" channel that is in the 2:00 position on the cavity. Make sure to line up the new switch so that the square male channel slids into the female walls inside the column. Just slide the new switch in fully and it will snap into place when the spring loaded pin hits the sweet spot. No problems with the starting of the engine and you are ready to go.
How do remove and replace the ignition switch of a 1983 Oldsmobile Regency?
You have to remove it gently and go to auto zone and turn it in
It would have electronic ignition, no points.
You will more than likely have to get a new ignition and key for it.
ok i have just spent about 30 mins serching for this answere and its imposible to find dude so if i were you i would take that car and have it fixed by a pro.
timing: 5 degrees btdc. electronic ignition sets dwell automatically. timing: 5 degrees btdc. electronic ignition sets dwell automatically.
ignition switch?? ignition module is on distributor, and is under the dist cap, remove the dist cap and rotor bug, it pulls off, then if it was not running you can remove the little black box, its a module, have it checked at autozone for free, take coil off top of dist cap, is as easy as removing the screws, and replacing unit. reassemble it.
Im installing a 1983 2.3 red block into a 1979 242. I need a ignition wiring road map Modified schematic. Bkindschy@yahoo.com
wires on the starter are criss crossed
check that switch it's probably defective or for some reason its staying "open" it may simply be faulty wiring.
1983 doesnt have a crankshaft position sensor. you have an ignition module located on the side of the distributor.
A 1983 Toyota Corolla was equipped with electronic ignition system, therefore it does not have points. However, if the engine has been modified such that the car DOES have a point-type ignition system, the typical point gap for an earlier model (i.e. years 1974-1977) would be .018"
