Is this a 3.0 litre? a 3.3 litre engine? If it's a 3.3 litre engine like I have, you have to raise the front end up high enough to sit under unfortunately. You have to be able… to reach a plate with two bolts beneath the alternator to release it to be freed from the top, and no matter how much a contortionist you are, you CANNOT do it from the top. One the lower bar is unbolted, you can remove the alternator from the mounting plate and plugs... and while you're down there...replace the three plugs you skipped the last time you did a tune up because you couldn't reach them ;-) (MORE)
Since they don't list this part at any of the online stores, I would suggest removeing the hose & it's clamps, bring it all to the parts store, then have them make the best su…ggestion on what to purchase. Bring the new stuff home, and put it on where you removed the original. go to a parts story and ask for a bypass for the type of car it is for. (MORE)
For simple replacement instructions (each engine size has different procedures):.
-you must wait until the engine is completely cool before beginning.
-drain the cooling sys…tem -remove the splash shield under right front fender for easy acess (except for 2.6l remove the drivebelt).
-loosen the clamps and disconnect the hoses (you might have to replace them).

The water pump is driven off of the timing belt. (No joke). If you do this job, replace the timing belt, water pump and front motor oil seal (crankshaft) while you are at it. …You will have to jack up the car, remove the right wheel and wheel well to get access to the front of the engine. Take off the motor mounts, drive belts, crankshaft pulley, harmonic balancer (you will have to make a tool for this) and more. It ain't easy. It took me three days by myself to get it apart (of course, bolts were frozen). It only took one day to put it back together with my brother's help. DEFINITELY get a second pair of hands, I wasted a lot of time just jacking the engine up and down trying to get to things. You will have to have a manual for this job, don't even attempt it without one. (MORE)
Depending on engine its pretty simple... for the 2.5 its:.
First u drain the coolant..
Remove Serpintine belt.
Remove the A/C Compressor and keep it out of the… way with someone such as rope or a bungee cord, whatever you might have to keep it up and out of the way....
Remove the main mounting bracket that holds the AC Compresser and Alternator on..
Remove the 3 bolts holding the water pump housing to the engine block..
Now all you have to do is remove the water pump from the water pump housing then do this in reverse. Installing the new gaskets and such. (MORE)
