How do you replace window crank?
Most window cranks are held on with a clip behind the face of the handle. It is shaped like a U with the sides pinched in a bit. There is a tool available to push the clip out that should cost around $5 or you can bend a hook on the end of a nail and pull it off. Push in on the door panel and you should be able to see the clip.
remove the plug unscrew the bolts and put back the way you remove it . Depending on what car you have, the crank angle sensor is normally located behind your harmonic balancer, or somewhere close to the crank. To remove the harmonic balancer you'll first need to remove the drive belt then remove the… bolts holding on the harmonic balancer. It won't usually come off easily so it'll need some persuasion with a few light taps from a hammer, or in severe cases a bearing puller. Once the balancer is removed access to the crank angle sensor is very easy. All you need to do is interchange the busted sensor for a new one. (MORE)
Read the Haynes Repair manual and it states to either use a special tool (looks like flat bar, forked at the end) or to put the crank in the down position, lift a clean shop rag up and directly behind the crank, and pull up until the clip snaps out. I tried this but still can't see where the clip is… that is supposed to be behind the crank. Anyone else have suggestions?? (MORE)
Remove the bolt holding it on, pull it off with a puller and press the new one on,
How do you replace the door speakers on a 1999 Hyundai Accent GSI specifically how do you get the window crank off?
there is a special tool to do this they should haze one at your local auto parts store and shouldn't be more that a few bucks there is a little clip ring behind the window crank.
Answer . I tried the dishrag thing and it didn't work for me. The crank on my '97 SC2 is held on by a wire spring shaped like an omega. The top of the omega is located opposite the crank arm and is held up by two little standoffs 1/8 inch apart, so you can get a hook under it and pull it loose. …\nI made a little hook (1/8") on the end of a strip of steel 3/64 X 3/32 inch. It was the backbone out of a discarded windshield wiper. About 1 inch up, I put about a 5 degree bend in it, the same direction as the hook, so that it could have some travel once it got inserted behind the handle.\nPush the trim panel in a little, slip the hook behind the handle opposite the arm, hook the spring and give it a sharp pull. I had to use pliers. The spring will pop off and roll under the car, so don't do this in the grass. (MORE)
The best tool I know of to remove the manual hand crank to the windows, of all items is a dish rag. Yes I sad it... a dish rag. First crank the window all of the way down, this will add tension for the later steps. Rap the rag around the handle as close to the door panel as possible. The rag doesn't… need to be rapped 360 degrees around the handle, more like 180-270. Move the rag back and forth like you're trying to buff the handle. (It works better if you move the rag in a manner that will rotate the handle towards a down position which will cause it to stop, because the window should already be at the full down positon.) The rag will snag one of the ends of a C-clip that holds the handle to the crank rod and eventually cause it to come out of the slot in the handle itself. Be careful not to lose the clip though, it is rather small. Hope that helps. Answer You can also buy a window crank removal tool from an auto parts store. Just ask for it. -Jesse I read the dish cloth answer and didn't believe it, however, I tried it out and my window winder flew across the car in the first couple of seconds of wiggling the cloth (along with the clip). Amazing. Don't waste your money on a special tool you'll only use once :-) Rich (MORE)
Answer . Theres a tool that will engage the clip on the back side of the crank, you can find the tool at most auto parts stores.
Answer . purchase a 'door trim removal tool' from any auto shop and jam it under the retainer under the winder. this will allow the winder to be slid off its nipple.
Is it necessary to replace a window motor on a Jeep Cherokee if it sounds like it continues to crank after the window gets to the top?
not yet but it probably wont last long and it will drop into the door use it as little as possible unless you are ready to pay to fix it some regulators are avalible at aftermarket as doorman parts check you local parts place
Answer . Take a rag and gently work it in behind the crank and move it from side to side while pulling up on it. This should release the catch spring and from there you can insert a small screwdriver and pull it out.
Or, u can do it the easy way and get a plastic pry bar, push back the panel to expose the C clip and remove it with some needle nose pliers. If all else fails, go buy a crank tool for like $8. I am a mobile electronics installer (and owner of a 96 Aspire), and I don't know anyone who would go throug…h all that to remove a window crank.. Answer . From my experience, now don't quote me but you need to push the beauty panel back a little, trust me if you are worried about breaking the panel they take a lot more then you think, but once you have done that there should be a funny looking C clip around the handle. All you got to do is pull off the clip and the handle should slip right off. The trick to getting that clip off is to cheat by making a simple tool. take a coat hanger and cut a straight piece out of it. take one end and loop it in a full circle, this end is extended for your finger so you got something to hold on to. take the other end and make a 135 degree bend as sharp as you can. the smaller the easier the job, once the bend has been made cut it about a 1/8 of an inch long, all you have to worry about if you got it right is if the sharp to grab the clip. If you make that tool and have at it it shouldn't take you more then 10 minutes to get it off, I don't care who you are. (MORE)
One 10mm bolt holds the crank sensor to the top tranmission bell housing on the left side. From underneath bend the shield back that hides it and take the bolt out .. you can access the plug to disconnect the wiring easier.
There is a small horseshoe shaped clip that holds the window handle on the window regulator.. It has to be removed. You can purchase a window handle clip removal tool, or you can make one yourself out of a coathanger. It would be easy to show you the shape if I could post a picture here, but no ima…ges are allowed on the site. It should look like an upside-down Capital "L" . The long part of the L should be about 5". At the end of the long part of the L, you should make a hook. The inside of the hook end should be about the same as the thickness of the coat hanger. Bigger than that and it won't fit between the window handle and door panel.. Be careful when you pull it out, that clip has a tendency to pop off and disapear.. To reinstall it, just center it on the window regulator and give it a sharp tap to set it in place.. Good luck (MORE)
Answer . Go to the auto parts store and buy a door handle removal tool. They are less than $5. Slip the tool under the door handle from the knob side. Hold a rag against the door panel opposite the tool. The tool will pop off a retainer clip. Then just pull the handle off the splined shaft. This really works with NO SPECIAL TOOL! A neighbor told me about this and it works. I did it twice this morning. Forget the special tool. Turn the crank so you can see where the "points" of the locking ring are. Turn the crank again so they are pointing down. Take an old terry cloth towel and slip t…he hemmed or finished edge between the crank handle and the door and slide it back and forth with an upward pressure. The towel will catch on the points of the locking ring and pop it right off. (MORE)

From the 1993 Chevy shop manual (has worked on my 91) you slide a thin rag behind the handle (not the plastic piece behind it) at the non-handle round end and slide it back and forth while pulling up and out as doing it. Believe it or not it removes the clip and the handle pops off!
it's tricky to get to but as long as you have ramps or jack stands it will be easy. once the car is off the ground high enough that you can fit underneath the engine, slide under neath and look for the starter. the starter blocks your access. remove the starter and you will see the single wire conne…ction and the single bolt. remove the wire using a screw driver to pry the clip and undo the bolt. after that, use a pair of adjustable goose neck pliers to grab and twist the sensor and it pops out. to install do everything in reverse. grab and twist the sensor giving a little pressure to push it in place. then align and bolt down and hook the wire back, reinstall the starter and make sure it is properly mounted and you are ready to go. Before removing it, make sure you find a way to successfully measure the distance of the sensor from the timing wheel. If you don't have a measuring gauge, rule of thumb is between 1-2 credit cards' thickness. You may want to try this as a gauge before removing it. It is held on by a single, 10mm… bolt to the right of the crank pulley. It is black and about the size of a lipstick container. You will need to access it from the bottom of the car with jackstands or ramps, and remove the splash pan. The wiring harness travels up and you need to disconnect it, it resides just above the power steering module. Once it is installed, attempt to start the car BEFORE putting the splash pan back on. If it does not fire up, it probably needs to be moved a bit closer. (MORE)

how do u change a crankshaft sensor on a Oldsmoilbe alero 2001 2.4L twin cam?
Check headlights and dashboard lights first. If no/minimal power for the lights then replace battery.
The window crank will most likely be held on one of two ways. Therecould be a screw in the middle, or there is a clip behind itholding the shaft.
Only if you change out the entire regulator. The power regulator unit is pitched a little different due to the power motor components.
Your local auto parts store will sell you a very inexpensive tool to remove the "C" clip behind the crank handle.
Your local auto parts store can sell you one. They are inexpensive, probably under $15.

Almost all window cranks are held on with a hairpin clip on the back side of the handle. You have to push in on the door panel and look behind the handle. The clip is just a wire shaped like a U with the sides pinched in. If it was put on correctly, the bottom of the U should be opposite of handle. …You can bend a hook on the end of a nail or stiff piece of wire and hook it over the clip and pull it off. They have a tendency to get lost so don't pull too hard or the clip will fly off. Once you get it off and look at it, it will make sense. To put the handle back on, put the clip back in the handle and just push it on. (MORE)

It depends on the year and make vehicle. Need to know what vehicle you have to answer that question.
Well that depends on a lot of factors. First of all do you have to remove anything to get to the sensor? If so obviously you will have to factor in the time it takes to do that. Second, what it your experience with light automotive repair? If you are very experienced then it shouldn't take long but …if you are a novice it might be a little time consuming. (MORE)
I am actually doing one now. You take the frnt pass. Tire of remove the plastic splash guard and you will see the crankshaft pulley. Getting the center bolt undone is hard but i use a breaker bar and appropriate fitting socket. The motor when running turns clockwise so wedge the breaker bar on eithe…r a concrete block or up against the control arm and crank the motor for one second at a time until it breaks the bolt free. Be sure to remove your ign. Relay so the engine wont run. And if you use this proc. BE CAREFUL and DO NOT have anyone stand around the breaker bar. Ive never heard of or seen anyone get hurt with this method but CAN be VERY dangerous if the breaker bar were to come of and be flung. After the bolt is lose take it out and use a wheel puller to remove the crank pulley. Wedge a broom handle in between the bolts attaching the wheel puller to the crank pulley and turn and turn until the pulley comes off. Use short bolts to attach the puller to the pulley.... Trust me use long ones and it will bind up against the body. Once removed you will see a banana shaped object with two 8mm bolts hoding it to the block. Remove those and bam its off. After you trace your way to the harness connector. Should be up behind the ac comp. Or power steering. Didnt look at it enough to know. Install is pretty much revers of removal. Pretty simple job actually and the cps is always a prob with 2000 to 2005 impalas. (MORE)
