Most window cranks are held on with a clip behind the face of the handle. It is shaped like a U with the sides pinched in a bit. There is a tool available to push the clip out that should cost around $5 or you can bend a hook on the end of a nail and pull it off. Push in on the door panel and you should be able to see the clip.
Remove the inside door panel of your 1997 Chevy Lumina. Remove the linkage to the window crank. Remove the window crank retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new window crank.
To replace the window crank handle on the 1993 Geo Prism, first remove the interior door panel. Then, access the screw that holds the window crank in place and remove it. You can then remove the handle itself.

You would need to remove the window regulator, and the motor. Replace them both and drill a hold through your door panel where the crank will come out.

Dear User, You should be able to open up the side panel fairly easy and you can replace the electric crank with a hand crank. or just fix the electric crank
In almost all makes of car you have to replace the window regulator. That's the entire mechanism that holds the window and raises and lowers it.

You can remove the window crank handle by just using a simple shop rag. How you do this you slide the rag(unfolded) between the door panel and window crank and rotate around the window crank until you snag the clip that is retain the window crank. The clip is a simple wire clip shaped like a "C" To reinstall you place the clip back in the groove on window crank and press back on the window regualtor shaft
there is a special tool to do this they should haze one at your local auto parts store and shouldn't be more that a few bucks there is a little clip ring behind the window crank.
