It depends if your laptop came with a full version of the Windows disk, or if it was only a recovery disk that restored Windows from a hidden partition on the hard drive originally supplied with your computer.
Computers that are only supplied with a recovery disk rely on having the Windows installation files available on the hard disk that came with the PC, so if you get a new hard disk drive those files are obviously gone and you will need a replacement installation disk. The manufacturer or supplier of your PC may be able to help with this so it may be worth contacting them first. Or, if you download a copy of Windows, you can still use the serial number supplied with your computer. Make sure you get the correct version.
