First, make sure the gas is turned on. The valve is on the side opposite the emergency brake, up under the body. There are three positions--off, on, and reserve. Make sure it is turned to "on". Then, move the red switch on the left handle bar to the middle "run" position. The far left and far right positions are both "off". If your electric start works, simply push the red switch up from the bottom. Or you can pull the string start on the side of the engine with the emergency brake. If that doesn't start it, open the choke to full (all the way to the right). Close it half way when the engine runs for a few seconds, then close it all the way. Good luck.

The crankcase drain plug on a 2007 Polaris scrambler 500 is hard to locate. However, it is behind the bolt in the skid plate.
