To write a good book you have to want to write a good book. You have to write it and then read it and change things that need to be changed. Also you can't set your hopes on writing a book if you don't enjoy writing. Really you have to get inside the characters minds as well (Especially if it is written in first person). Books are meant to be enjoyed so make sure you enjoy it.
Plot- To write a good book you have to have a basic plot that you can build on as you write.
