it connects right behind the intake manifold very low, its kind of hard to get to, but its a thickish cable all you do is pull it out of the fitting that goes to the transmission, then feed it through the fire wall then go to the cab and you should see the cable you just pushed through the fire wall just reach up and pull it out of the cluster, there arent any bolts or screws holding it together just tight fittings just pull hard and it will come out
You can replace the speedometer cable, on your 1988 Ford Ranger, by loosening the cable nut on each end of the cable. The cable will come off and can then be replaced.
