First off there are a series of 7 or 8 mm screws in the dash. one behind the the fuse box cover on the drivers side and one on the passenger side. then you open up the glove box and there should be a set of four 7 or 8 mm screws to be removed. if you look in the glove box there is a cavity that is recessed and you need to remove two 7 or 8 mm bolts there as well. on top dash there is a Phillips no. 1 screw that needs to be removed. take off vent cover and there are two 7 or 8 mm screws that need to be removed. lift up on dash..*BE CAREFUL if done too fast you might drop dash and puncture airbag which is a VERY BAD THING! once you clear the airbag you are good to go. to remove the bezel around the radio you need to remove the 7 or 8 mm screws lined across the back of the bezel should be 4 or 5 of the screws. once you remove those just pop the dash off and you should be done removing the dash. as far as dash kits go to circuit city and pick yourself up a MET GM1858, MET GM10, MET 994000. Those are the wiring harness, antenna adapter and dash kit for your car. I used to work in circuit city. the cavaliers took me 5 minutes to put in a radio. quick and simple.
I second that, it sounds like alot...but compared to most it is pretty simple. Less than 5 minutes EASY

Find a road with a "measured mile" and check it.
There is no cable, the speedo is run electronically.
purchase Haynes manual.
There is no speedometer cable anymore, it's all electronic.
This question is very wide. But, I would suspect the speed sensor.
I have a 2004 Chevy Cavalier and there was an electrical problem in the dashboard. I had to have someone pull the entire thing out and re-wire--it cost me about $400.00. It started with my speedometer going out and then my rpm went out and so on. My mechanic told me that Chevy should have recalled this but didn't....
i do not know go to a car stereo install ... store
run a wire from the battery to the radio with an inline fuse... or check ur fuses and see if its blown
around $90
The brand new cavalier cost around 29'000 if used maybe around 5 to 12,000
I have a 1997 cavalier. If it is the same and I think they are. The best thing to do is go to Wal-mart and get the installation kit. Inside the kit are directions on how to get the old stereo out. Because you have to take the dash off to get to some of the screws. It sounds rough but really it is easy.
