What is the purpose of a car valves and what is the difference between a 12 valve and a 16 valve engine?
Close one hole of your nose and try to breath in. Feel any difference. Coming back to the subject. By increasing the # of valves you get the below features. a) better combustion chamber shape, resulting in better combustion, resulting in better power and fuel economy. There are intake valves and ex…haust valves. On the intake side, the intake valve opens which lets the fuel/air mixture into the combusion chamber. At some point (measured in degrees of crank rotation) the intake valve closes, the air/fuel mixture is compressed and ignited by the spark plug. Then the spent mixture exits the cylinder when the exhaust valve opens. Valve configuration varies somewhat, but regardless of how many valves there are there will always be at least one intake and one exhaust valve. Some cylinder heads have 2 intake and 2 exhaust valves which is what is described as the 4-valve per cylinder setup. As the first two responders pointed out, you have intake valves, which let air in a diesel, or air plus gas in a gasoline engine, into the cylinder; and exhaust valves, which let the spent gases leave the cylinder. One important thing multiple valves can do for you is to let the spark plug be put in the center of the cylinder, from where the flame front can radiate evenly through the chamber. A 16-valve engine (if it's a 4-cylinder) has two intake and two exhaust valves. A 16-valve engine could also be an 8-cylinder engine with 1 intake and 1 exhaust valve per cylinder. A 12-valve engine has two intake and one exhaust valve (if it's a 4 cylinder engine). a 12-valve engine may also be a 6-cylinder engine with 1 intake and 1 exhaust valve per cylinder. evan was here (MORE)

Well the 2300 is an overhead-can set up. Which means it doesent have push rods or lifters. The cam is what actually pushes the valves open and closed. The cam is set right under the valve cover.
Answer . Oil Slug is one of the main causes of a lifter tapping. Something that would up help clean the slug would be an Engine Flush, called Auto-RX. I have never used it but have heard many good things about it and it is made in the USA.\n. \nHope This Helps.
Answer . Incorrect weight oil. Incorrect size or cheap filter. Partially clogged oil galleys. Install the correct weight oil as listed in your owner's manual, and install a quality filter. If you have a GM vehicle install an AC/Delco filter. Other's use Purolator or Wix filter.
The early 4.7 engine in the grand cherokee, dakotas, and rams have had problems with cylinders on the rear left of the engine, starting with a knocking then overheating and seizing .
A check engine and maintenance light have different symbols. Theowners manual of the vehicle will decipher what each symbol means.A service light means a vehicle has a service that due while acheck engine light requires some sort of repair.
I watched a video and it says everybody who thinks bottle water is cleaner, I think that answer is wrong. Tap water is way better!
You could try writing down the engine number (It's on a tab in front of the passenger side cylinder head) and checking http://www.mortec.com. Most engine numbers are listed on that site.
How can you tell the difference between intake valve and exhuast valve on a 1987 Chevy 305 want to replace valve stem seals but intake and exhaust are different seals which one is which?
intake valves are the larger valves or if you count from from either end its number 2,3,6,&7 valve
In SI engine knock occur due to spontaneous ignition of end gases , as propagating flame compresses the mixture causes high temp & pressure reaction take place in end gases that burns rapidly with high pressure peak called knock. Where as in CI engine knocking or detonation occur due autoignition fu…el & air not mixed homogeneous prior to combustion. pressure peaks of knock come before Top Dead Center(TDC) in CI engine where as in SI engine it comes after the TDC. An overhead valve (valve in head) engine has the valves in the head (not in the block) and they are in line with the motion of the piston, but are above it. Valves are usually operated by push rods or by overhead cam (driven by timing belt/chain from the crankshaft). The engine can be in any orienta…tion : ie the cylinder motion could be horizontal or vertical. Overhead valve engines are high performance engines used in motor bikes and cars . A side valve engine has the valves in the block (not in the head). The valves are parallel to the piston motion and are placed just beside the cylinder. Valves are lifted by a camshaft, gear driven off the crankshaft. This arrangement is also known a 'L-head' engine. Advantages are that the head is simpler. The flow of fuel and exhaust gas is less efficient than overhead valve engine. due to having to make a 90 degree turn. Compression ratios are usually lower with side valve engines, so they will run happily on lower octane fuel. Side valve engines are mostly used on lawnmowers etc. (MORE)

Modern dance is more like jazz. It's about jumping, and using your body. Tap on the other hand, is all about rhythem (unless ouy are doing Broadway style). Also, modern is most often done bare foot whereas tap shoes are hard with metal on the bottom.
\nSpring water is from a watering area and tap water is sent through a processing plant. From man-made lakes.

Tap is not very fast and exiting and Hip Hop is cool and very exiting and it doesn't go slow and its very fun and entertaining . also hip hop is a street dance, done in like just tennis shoes and some comfy clothes. whereas tap is more of a show dance and there are metal plates on the bottom of yo…ur shoes, and it makes noise as you dance, hence it is called tap (MORE)
Which kind? Exhaust or intake, run a compression test. A burned valve will show up as low compression on one cylinder. A blown head gasket will often show up as low compression on TWO cylinders. If you suspect a bad PCV valve, jsut replace it as part of the tune-up.
A tap is the connection for the water main and a faucet comes after the TAP
It depends is the tap water warm or cold? If it is warm then yes they should!x
A knockout occurs when a fighter is knocked to the canvas, and receives a 10 count from the referee before he is able to stand back up, and able to continue the fight. A TKO, actually stands for a technical knock out (Is this what you men by total knock out?) - and refers to a fighter who is still p…hysically on his feet, but who is either phsically unable to continue due to an injury - or the referee deems him to be unable to continue the fight due to his being impaired and unable to defend himself. If you ever tried tap dancing in clogs it would render this question superfluous The bottoms of clogs are lose and taps are solid. You do more lifting up your feet in cloging.
Very hard to tell without removing a head, but if it has the factory intake and rocker covers the 307 would have an oil fill tube sticking up near the front of the intake with no fill plugs or cap in the rocker covers.
intake is wider on a 351 block is wider on 351 First off do not confuse the 351 Windsor from the 351 Cleveland. The 351 Cleveland was produced from 1970 to 1975. You can tell them apart is several ways. . The 302 deck height is 8.2" and the 351 deck height is 9.5". Older versions of the 351 had a… deck height that was 1/2" higher than the 302. . The VIN # on the vehicle the engine is mounted in will tell you if it is the OEM engine. The 8th digit of the VIN is the engine code. H means it is a 302, N means it is a 351. . The engine displacement may be stamped on the valve cover or on the intake manifold. . Look at the head bolts. The 302 head bolts are 7/16" diameter and the 351 are 1/2". . The Intake on a 351 is wider than a 302 because the deck height is higher. (MORE)
Well ballet is danced to slow music. It also has to be precise and accurate. Tap can be performed to slow or fast music. When you Tap dance you have to wear special tap shoes. These have a piece of metal on the bottom of the shoe called a tap, this is situated on the toe end of the shoe. When you mo…ve higher up the grades the will get a pair of shoes which have a tap on the bottom at the heel end of the shoe. When you dance this special shoe makes a tap sound. Put steps together and this makes a whole load of sounds which it made right can sound great and almost like a song. . So that is the difference between Tap and Ballet. (MORE)
Set the motor to TDC, pull the #1 spark plug, put a small wooden dowl rod in the cylinder, rotate the engine and measure the stroke. 3.25" = 327, 3.48" = 350
The size is different. The 360 engine is a 5.9 liter engine and a 318 is a 5.2 liter engine.
Non-turbo is 2.5 liters, glt/ low pressure turbo is 2.4 liters, R is 2.3 liters, I'm not sure about the t-5 but I would guess 2.3.
check the compression on all cylinders make sure they're all within a couple of pounds of each other at least 125lbs.
Very hard to tell without pulling a head and measuring the stroke, but there are some signs that might help. If the factory intake has an oil filler tube and there are no bolt holes in the ends of the heads, it's probably a 327.
valves are use in four stroke engine, and ports are use in two stroke engine.
A valve is a structure in a hollow organ (like the heart) with a flap to insure one-way flow of fluid through it whereas a sphincter is an opening of skin and surrounded by muscle that physically restricts and controls the passage of substances through the digestive tract. Some valves lie between the atria and some valves lie between the atrium and the ventricle
Tapping valves is a noise made by too much clearance between the valve lifter and the valve. Modern engines have hydraulic lifters. If you have too little oil pressure or run the engine low on oil, the lifters will make noise. The lifter can also wear out.

Valve taps often occur as a result of a misalignment in the fitting they are in, or a worn out valve seat. In many cases, a new valve spring and cam adjustment will fix the problem, but if it the result of a worn out valve seat, it will have to be machined.
An "engine knock" will be more noticable when engine is labored (climbing a hill etc.) Valve noise will remain constant
How can you tell the difference between a hydraulic lifter and a mechanical lifter on a Chevy 350 engine?
Take a pushrod and push down on the plunger in the lifter. A hydraulic lifter is spring loaded.
A capilliary is a minute blood vessel - a valve is something found usually in a vein or artery - which stops blood flowing 'backwards'
the gsr engine will have a code on the block in plain view that reads b18c1 or b18c the h22 will have a similar code on the block but it reads h22
How do you tell the differ beween the intake and the exhaust valve when adjusting on a350 engine 1988 corvette?
The intake valves are in the intake ports, the exhaust valves are in the exhaust ports.
How can you tell the difference between a 2 stroke and a 4 stroke motorcycle engine by looking at it?
a four stroke has a timing chain and a cam and a two stroke doesnt a two stroke has reed valves
Bad valve seals generally produce smoke after start up only or after a period of idling. Worn out rings would smoke continuously. A compression test would verify the condition of the rings. Try a wet and dry test of the compressions. Get a set of readings dry, then put a teaspoon of engine oil in ea…ch bore, turn over and re-test. Worn rings will have improved readings when wet. Worn valves will show no difference. (MORE)

Mainly, the difference is that in an overhead cam engine, the camshaft is mounted on the head of the engine, and the valves are still overhead, in an overhead valve engine (sometimes called a "pushrod motor"), the camshaft is in the crankcase.
