I have just changed the automatic Transmission Fluid on my 2002 Synergie 2.0i 16v. The fill plug was a devil to find. You need to remove the air filter box assembly (a straight forward task). You can then see where the gear select lever enters the top of the gearbox. If you come about 3 inches from this towards the front of the car you will locate the fill plug. It is a hexagonal bolt on a very long thread, the tapered end of which doubles as an oil level indicator. To get to the plug it was necessary to unscrew and slightly move a couple of electrical components to one side.
The amount of fluid used was 2.75 pints that I believe equates to 1.6 litres.
