Try this. Before starting the car, engage the parking brake. Start the car, release the brake. The DRLs will be off on some models. If you don't want the DRLs on at all, look under the hood for a gray plug. It'll be on the right side wheel well closer to the passenger than the radiator. Unplug that and your running lights will be off.
Cheers
Look in the fuse box and find the DRL fuse and pull it out.
To stop running the DRL daytime running lights in the 2005 Toyota Echo the headlight relay needs to be modified. The DRL module on the relay needs to be cut and relay inserted into the harness.
On a 1999 9-3 you pull fuse 15 in the panel on the drivers side of the dash. This will turn off the headlights and the gauge lights unless you manually turn the light switch to the on position.
In most cars you just need to find the DRL fuse or DRL Relay & to unppluged; this disables the system... but in some cars this could turn on the Check Engine light I hope this is not you case. 4cycles.
no one knows.it's a mystery!
Just remove the DRL fuse in the fuse box, If your wanting to turn lights off while driving.
I found it! Do a search on "How does one disable the DRL daylight running lights option on the 2001 Toyota Sienna?" The 2001 is the same (as far as I know) as the 2003. They changed Toyota Sienna in 2004. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_does_one_disable_the_DRL_daylight_running_lights_option_on_the_2001_Toyota_Sienna&updated=1&waNoAnsSet=2 Anyway, look up "How does one disable the DRL daylight running lights option on the 2001 Toyota Sienna?" and that will answer your question. I did it on mine and it works! Here are some website's I found that have the procedures for disabling the DRL on 1999 - 2003 headlights: http://www.pnw4runners.net/fj/tsb/2000_disable_drl.pdf http://www.c7performance.com/techinfo/tsb/TSB_DRL_REMOVE.pdf http://www.yotatech.com/~corey/tech/ducky_drl/ducky.htm http://www.geocities.com/mistertwo@sbcglobal.net/tsb/El011-00/El011-00.htm http://vamp.darkravers.net/cpg/displayimage.php?album=107&pos=6
You contradict yourself. If your headlights are staying on during the day, then your DRL are working. What is your problem?
If you lift your ebrake handle one notch, it will not engage the brake, but it will turn off your drl's. Or you could always pull the fuse.. :)
There is a separate fuse for the daytime running lights (DRL). I think there might be a relay also. If the green DRL indicator comes on, but the lights themselves don't, check the fuse and the relay. I think it is in the fuse/relay center by the battery.
"DRL" stands for "daytime running lights".....in newer model vehicles, the DRL will turn on automatically when the car is started, thus eliminating the need to turn on the headlights for visibility, although the law states that headlights must still be turned on between ½hour before sunset and ½hour after sunrise.
I'm not a mechanic/technician but I believe that is a defective daytime running lamp (DRL) module
