It feeds by picking up a scent of an other animal and then hunting it down or they wait for it to come out and then they lunge at it. Hunting strategy is designed to conserve energy and consists mainly of stalking and ambush techniques, usually by just sitting and waiting by a seal hole.POlar Bears will use their huge paws to stun or kill the prey, or kill it with a bite to the head by crushing the skull. Adult Polar bear can eat 150-200 lbs. at one time, eating blubber and skin first, and then the meat. Averages one seal every 4-5 days, but one seal can supply enough energy for about 11 days. They articularly like seal pups because of the high percentage of fat, and will pound the ice above its den until it breaks through to the seal. They can eat birds, but don't usually do so, for they would have to catch one within 12 seconds in order for it to supply the energy expended. Thanx, tl1313
