There are several advantages of using dryer sheets instead of liquid fabric softener. The key advantage is that dryer sheets do not use nearly as many chemicals as liquid fabric softeners as those chemicals have been known to cause diseases.

It is kinda tricky using fabric softener, if you pour it directly on your clothes or even don't mix it with the water good enough first it will leave greasy looking spots on your clothes. I stop my washer right before the final rinse, take my clothes out, let the fabric softener and water mix really good then add my clothes back in.
