The term cosmic ray is a bit of a misnomer since they are actually high energy particles, rather than electromagnetic radiation which could be placed on the spectrum. The name "cosmic rays", which relates to beliefs surrounding their initial discovery, stuck, but is widely understood to mean fast-moving protons and other atomic nuclei possessing mass, by contrast to other types of radiation such as visible light, gamma or x-rays whose energy is carried by (massless) photons of varying frequencies.

Why are some parts of the electromagnetic spectrum called light and others called waves?

No reason. Light is an electromagnetic wave so you can call any part of the spectrum either.

Is it true The range of different electromagnetic waves is called the electromagnetic span?

You're free to give it any name that appeals to you. It's most commonly called the "electromagnetic spectrum" by others.

How does the visible spectrum compare the the entire electromagnetic spectrum?

it is slap bang in the midde of the spectrum, with Ultra Violet light on one side, and Infra red on the other. In a vacuum it travels at the same speed as all of the others (the speed of light) UV has a shorter wavelength, and Infra red has a slightly longer one.

How is an optical telescope different from the others?

An optical telescope focuses and concentrates visible light; radio telescopes focus and concentrate electromagnetic radiation (which means, "light") in the radio part of the spectrum.

Why is it useful to examine the universe using parts of the electromagnetic spectrum other than visible light?

Different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum give different types of information.Different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum give different types of information.Different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum give different types of information.Different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum give different types of information.

What is the relationship between electromagnetic spectrum light and sight?

Anything that can reflect light is only visible to an eye... others which cannot are dark..

What are spectrums of light?

Light is a range of frequencies of electromagnetic radiation. This is the same stuff that makes radio frequencies, X-rays, microwaves (like the ones used to heat food). The range or group of frequencies that make up visible light plus ultraviolet and infrared light are referred to the visual spectrum. The others are the radio spectrum, the microwave spectrum, etc.

Is mirror reflected heat with light?

Not sure exactly what you mean? Mirrors can reflect heat. Heat is simply electromagnetic waves in the infrared part of the spectrum, mirrors can reflect them (some types better than others).

What type of energy the a light of a candle?

The Light of a candle is part of the electromagnetic spectrum, so it is electromagnetic energy. It is also called radiant energy. A candle, however, can emit others kinds of energy like heat, light, sounds, kinetic energy (that makes the air move due to convection) and so on.

How are visible light radiowaves and other forms of electromagnetic radiation different from each other?

The only part of the electromagnetic spectrum that we can see is the small yet significant part of visible light. Visible light is not harmful for humans, but some of the other types of waves are.

How do the various types of electromagnetic radiation differ from each other'?

Frequency, wavelength and energy are the only differences. They are all roughly equivalent as well, in that knowing one means knowing the others for EM radiation.
