A network of PIR's (Passive Infra Red) detectors, panic attack buttons, door magnets, sirens/strobes and a central control unit/panel powers the system. The user will type in a personalized code into the panel keypad, giving the user a certain amount of time toexit the building before the alarm system is set. Then, when a person enters through a door, the magnetic door contacts detect the door movement. This happens when the magnets move apart from eachother. As when the door is closed, they are both next to each other. When the door is opened, it sends a signal to the control unit giving the user a certain amount of time to type in the code. If the type the code in right, then the system becomes unset and it is safe to walk around the house. But if the period of time is up and you have not typed in the code or you typed the code in wrong, then the burglar alarm will sound. The PIR's detect physical movement in rooms, corrridors and hallways etc. The same principle applies with the door contacts. When they detect movement when the alarm is set, you have a certain amount of time to unset the alarm. Different times vary with different alarm systems.

How to Protect Your Family and Home with Burglar Alarm Systems?

Your family is very important to you and you do everything in your power to keep them safe. Every time you read or hear about someone’s home getting robbed you think about getting a burglar alarm installed. But then, life takes you in different directions and you forget about the alarm, until the next house gets robbed. Don’t you think it is time to protect your loved ones and your property? Don’t wait until it is too late and then say, if only I had an alarm put in. Check in the phone book for burglar alarm companies. Have a representative from each company go to your home, explain their alarm system and give you an estimate. Get at least two estimates, three would be better. Once you get the estimates and all the information necessary, make a decision and get a system installed. The equipment is sold and installed by the alarm system company. Alarms can be set up in a few ways. Your home could be hard-wired. That means that each door and window has a connection. When a connection is broken, by a door or window being opened, the alarm will sound The other way it can be done is more reasonably priced. Your exterior doors and windows would have an alarm trigger connection and will set off the alarm. There would also be two or three motion sensors, depending on the size and lay out of your home. A motion sensor puts out a signal and when that signal is broken by someone walking in its path, the alarm sounds. Either installation works basically the same way. There will be a keypad mounted near your main entry door. When you leave your home, you set the alarm and when you return you disarm it. You will have to sign up with a monitoring company. If your alarm goes off, they will call your home to check on you, plus they notify the police. Don’t wait until it is too late. Check out burglar alarm systems; pick the one that will work best for your family. Burglar alarm systems work. Get one today and sleep better tonight.

When doing alarm work what is the difference between hardwire and prewire on a house?

Alarm systems come in two basic forms. Wireless & wired. A system that is "hardwired" is simply a wired system. A home that has been prewired for an alarm means that the hardwire has already been run, generally when the home is initially constructed.

How do you get a burglar on sims 2?

Burglars, will attack at any point, most likely when your sim is at work. Best to buy a alarm and the police will come and arrest them. If you want them arrested, you have to have an alarm in the room they steal from. Each alarm covers only the ONE room. You can't place outside unless you use the move objects cheat. If you don't want them arrested, leave out the alarm. Your sims can, maybe, fight them. They can, of course, call the police, but without an alarm, the burglar usually escapes, with some of their possessions. You can SHIFT+CLICK on the mailbox to summon any NPC (non player character), including the burglar. I usually see them at night when the sims are all sleeping.

How to Avoid False Alarms with New Burglar Alarm Systems?

False alarms are not only a nuisance, they can cost money. If you have a new burglar alarm system, knowing how to work it and keep false alarms to a minimum is crucial. Here are a few simple tips. 1. Educate the Household The first step in avoiding false alarms is to be sure everyone in the household knows how to operate the alarm system. Make sure everyone knows the code or password for the keypad. Also make sure everyone knows if any keys need to be pressed before or after an alarm is triggered. Some keypads require you to hit a clear button, others a pound sign. Test everyone on this once a month to be sure it remains fresh in their minds. 2. Repair Doors and Windows A sticky latch on a door or a window that doesn’t close completely can trigger burglar alarm systems. To avoid this keep all windows and doors in good repair. If you notice a problem, fix it immediately. 3. Plants and Decor Take note of where the sensors are placed throughout your home. Keep plants and other decorations away from the sensors. A small breeze from a door opening, or your hvac system can cause plants and other hanging objects to sway, triggering a false alarm. Be aware of this during times of celebration, like birthdays or graduations. The decorations can trigger the alarm system. 4. Sensitivity When you have the alarm system installed, ask the installers how to adjust the sensitivity. If the system is overly sensitive, trees, brushes, and pets can trigger the system. Newer models of security systems will have a ’pet immunity’ option. With this, the system won’t trigger an alarm if it senses smaller than normal activity, such as a cat or dog running across a yard. 5. Cleanliness If your burglar alarm has motion sensors, keep the area near the sensors cleaned. Cobwebs and insects can cause the alarm to trigger. Rodents chewing through wiring can also trigger an unnecessary alarm.
