All religions are built on the Beliefs. It depends on our firm belief and the righteous thinking to march forward to achieve the goal. If we don't make changes in our life definitely religion or God will not change our life.

Most people feel a connection with their community through religious affiliation. Religion sometimes plays a role in their dealings with their neighbors and associates. If people know you belong to a particular faith, you will strive to behave in a manner that positively reflects upon your faith.

In that respect, religion can serve a good purpose. Religion also divides people. Those who belong to sufficiently different faiths may be "lost." Unorthodox, heathens, pagans, heretics, or worse. Religious strife fomented many conflicts around the world. Christians exiled Jews and Moors from the Iberian Peninsula during the Inquisition. Catholics and protestants were at each other's throats for decades in Ireland. Hindus and Muslims preyed on one another in northern India for many years, and when each country developed nuclear weapons, religious members thought these weapons ought to be deployed against one another.

In the end it boils down to how we want religion to affect us. Some people see no compelling reason to saddle themselves with what they view as artificial constructs. Religion is an heirloom, they believe, one inherits from one's parents, or on rarer occasions, adopts to appease a potential spouse, or to facilitate business transactions.

Unquestionably, some religions seem designed to see how many people they can persuade to believe the silliest notions. Mark Twain has a famous quote on religion. "The easy confidence with which I know another man's religion is folly teaches me to suspect that my own is also."

Regular participation in religious activities is good for both body and mind. Religious people have more social support and a positive self image than those who are not. If one is religious or believes in god than it can help sooth all the worries and helps to keep the mind peaceful. People who are religious have better psychological adjustment and are happier than those who are not. So, a religious person feels less stress, more rejuvenated, happy and peaceful. As a result his behaviour towards others also improves and he becomes an optimist.

Religion affects human life because it gives believers hope, and it can make them feel better about themselves. It may also cause people to make better choices.

Can humans affect their own behavior?

Yes, humans can control their own behavior despite the emotions they feel. That is not to say it is easy, but that it can be done. Humans have a capacity to understand right and wrong and a sense of higher reasoning. Many do not use those, but they choose to get in the "passenger seat" of their lives and let the emotions "drive them around" and decide their behaviors for them.
