Obviously, being a Christian is not all church-orientated but church is considered very important as it is mentioned in the Bible. The Bible is the 'manual' of how Christians should live and act so this is a reason why Christians attend church but back to your question, The church is a way to share your opinions of your faith as a collective. Christianity is a religion which is about togetherness but has it individual moments and also some Christians just can't be bothered to pray and worship God but only ask him for things and never say thanks unto God but going to church once a week can change this as Christianity is an inspirational religion and may change how such a person perceives and pursues their faith.

What role does the church have for Christians?

In my experience as a Christian, the Church plays a vital role. The Church is a place where Christians can gather together and worship the Lord together. Christians can receive fellowship with other Christians, gaining support, friendship and comradery. The Church plays (or should play) a vital role in the community, too, offering help to the poor and needy, reaching out hands to support those in physical, spiritual and emotional need.

Do christians have to help the church?

no because they just can believe that Jesus is your lord and your savor and he is your savor so you don't need to help the Church.According to scripture, Christian service to the church is always voluntary, you are never required to help the church. However it is a sin to have the means to help someone in need, and do not do so.
