Yugoslavia no longer exists. Between 1991 and 2006 it split up into many different countries. The following very roughly describes how wealthy the countries now are: Slovenia - part of the EU, very wealthy with incomes like in Spain, Italy and Western Europe Croatia - a wealthy country with incomes like Poland, Hungary and other countries in central Europe Bosnia - a middle-income country a bit poorer than the poorest EU countries (compare it to Romania or Turkey) Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia are all much as for Bosnia Kosovo, a province of Serbia, is probably the poorest parts and income can be as little as $2,000 (€2,500) per year.

Slovenia is an increasingly rapidly wealthy EU Member State. With a per capita measured in Nominal ($USD) terms at: $24,417

When measure in PPP (Purchasing Power Parity terms) the per capita for Slovenia is set at: $$28,118

Slovenia is expected to overtake Italy's declining wealth within the next two years. Slovenia wealth mark substantially puts Slovenia apart of other transition EU Member States of Central Europe and Bulgaria (south eastern Europe).

Slovenia in the near future will undoubtedly be one of the most strongest and wealthiest EU Members overtaking most of the EU15 in terms of nominal and purchasing power parity wealth.

Slovenia is not regarded to be a poor country in fact Slovenia is designated the status by the IMF and World Bank as an 'Advanced Economy'.

Slovenia is a member of the Eurozone and joined the Eurozone in January 2007 as legally obligated stated in the Maastrichtcriteria. Slovenia was the first Member of the European Union in the EU10 to adopt the Euro
