I just watched a lure-coursing event yesterday, where sight hounds chased plastic bags around a large field. I had a chance to time some whippets over the 900 yard course. The fastest I clocked completed the course in approximately 38 seconds, and many whippets completed the course in about 40 seconds. These results should be thought of as approximate, because I was timing with a stop watch, and the dogs were navigating a twisting course where they may have turned wide enough to change the total distance traveled. So, if you believe my stopwatch, and that the top dog stayed right on course, that would be about 49 miles per hour.
I own a whippet and bought a guide to the breed a couple years later, according to the book I bought it says that whippets can run up to 45 mph. I know my dog Grayson is super fast so I'm thinking that is probably a pretty accurate statement. He can keep up with our neighbors Greyhound, no problem.
Many whippets can reach about 40 mph (65 km/h).
A whippet can run 40 miles an hour. Keep them on a leash or have a tall fence around your yard. They will chase cars.
I understand that a whippet was recorded at 38.5 mph.
A Italian Greyhound is faster than a whippet.
No. Horses are the fastest land animal next to the cheetah.
But the Whippet is faster than the Greyhound.
usually 40 mph
They can get up to 16 miles per hour.

The dog whelk is a type of carnivorous sea snail. They are not generally used for human consumption but instead are harvested and used in the production of red-purple and violet dyes.
