I think you are missing a word, and it would affect the answer: changed your... what? If you are asking how it has changed our country, when Mr. Obama was elected, it was the first time America ever had a black president. This certainly was a major change. Another change was the involvement of young voters, who came out to support Mr. Obama in great numbers. It was also the first time a campaign had fully made use of social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc) in addition to the traditional ways of campaigning. And one other change-- many foreign leaders had disliked the policies of President Bush, and they were excited to have a new leader who would, they hoped, have different policies.

But if you are asking how Barack Obama changed someone's life, that would depend on the person. For example, many minority children were very excited to see a President and First Lady whose skin color was the same as theirs. Many young voters were excited to have a young president. But many people who did not vote for Mr. Obama and had wanted his opponent (John McCain) to be elected were bitterly disappointed and very upset about the results. In my case, I come from the generation where America was still segregated, so I was just pleased to see a candidate's race no longer prevent him from getting elected president. (By the way, even many Republicans, who did not vote for him, expressed the same opinion.)
