First of all and above all is the communication!

One can hear about an exhibit or a play through the internet, and even buy tickets, and plan the driving route, all using only the computer.

In addition, one can see a preview of the items presented.

This is from the viewer's point of view. From the artist's point of view (which is probably what you ment), it made two positive changes:

First, also at the artist's point of view, the communication is letting the artist get exposed to other materials that (s)he didn't know \ wasn't familiar with, and so enriching the produced art. In addition, by exposing the artist to different cultures and different ideas, the artist gets more inspiration to his \ her creation.

On the other hand, just like in any other field that the progress got to, the more the technology is involved in it, the less "natural" it is. some would like it because it is an art that represents the current world, while others, more conservatives, would think of it as eating a plastic apple - it is very nice, and very modern, but it's plastic...

Like in most things today, computers are found supporting artists in every field. For example, if you go to a play in almost any theater today, the lighting, sound, and sometimes the scenery and curtains are operated by computers. The computers are controlled by humans, and execute a set of cues or scenes originally designed by a human designer or programmer and stored. Most modern concerts or clubs use several automated or robotic lights that can change color or position. Each one contains a small computer, usual receiving commands from another computer that synchronizes them all. And virtually all design work in arts is done using Computer Aided Design (CAD) programs. At an amusement park, all the rides and Roller Coasters are operated and monitored by computers with high-speed sensors.

In the end, the computer is just another tool in the artist toolbox, but it allows humans to extend their creativity.
