Charles Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection related to the origin of structural and physiological adaptations because : Natural selection is when a certain organism adapts to its environment changes . For example , The Box Jellyfish has been existing befor the Dinasours which eventually helps us understand that it adapted to the changes in its environment in order for it to not extinct . It might have become the predator of its habitat or used camouflage to survive .

Structural and physiological adaptations occur at random within populations because of adaptations. Darwin's theory explains how these are fixed within populations.

In evolution what generates the formation of adaptations?

Natural Selection

How do adaptations arise in a species?

Through natural selection and evolution

How do adaptations connect to evolution?

Adaptive change is the province of natural selection and natural selection is one of the main drivers of evolution. Natural selection selects from the individuals variations in a population of organisms on, basically, reproductive success and this adaption is passed on to progeny which changes the allele frequency in the population which is evolution.

What is the idea that species originate through a gradual change of adaptations?

The theory of evolution by natural selection. Called gradualism.

How hummingbird came to have long tongues because of natural selection?

No, it is an adaption. To be more accurate it is a Structural Adaptation. Structural adaptations are adaptations that contributes to the survival of the organism. For example the arctic fox has thick coated fur to help keep warm.hope this helped : )

How would you use evolution natural selection adaptation and fitness in a sentence?

An important mechanism in evolution is natural selection, which allows populations to develop adaptations to changing circumstances based on the fitness landscape of the environment. Nah, still doesn't work. I'm no good at long sentences.

How is darwins theory of evolution by natural selection related to the origin of structural and physiological adaptations?

Natural selection "filters out" and selects the best or most energy efficient structures. It's a optimisation process geared towards what survives long enough to leave the most amount of viable descendants, that themselves will live long enough to produce more and so one. However, since mecanisms in modern creatures go back a long way in time, it can be the case that they are not perfectly optimal or simply that they are "piggy-backing" on something that has been selected. Evolution tries to prime and adapt what it's got, animals don't start off with whole new blueprints after wiping a species' genetic history clean.Random mutations do cause new genes and possible adaptations to occur though.

Is natural selection a cause of evolution?

No, natural selection is believed to result in evolution.

Why heritable characeristic which helps an animal to live longer will generally tend to become more common in the population as a result of evolution by natural selection?

These are called adaptations.

What are three components of natural selection?

The three parts of Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection are struggle for existence (competition), survival of the fittest (those with the best adaptations for the time/environment live and reproduce), and descent with modification (over time the population is more representative of organisms with the best adaptations).

How is natural selection and evolution linked?

Natural selection is one of the 'guiding' principles of evolution.

The gradual change in living things over long periods of time is called?

The gradual change in the characteristics of a species over time is called evolution. The theory of evolution by natural selection was first proposed by Charles Darwin.
