∙ 8y agoEllipsis is the printing of three dots to indicate that words have been missed out, either because the reader will understand what would have been said or, in the case of dialogue, because the speaker tails off. eg Jim said "Well, if you jump in a pool then ... " "You get wet" , agreed Ernie.
