What is the core difference between autism and aspergers syndrome?

Asperger is different from autism because people with Aspergers are less restricted with behavioral interactions than those with autism. Asperger's is a form of autism, but it is high-functioning and Aspergers is not as severe as actual autism is (Take it from me: I have aspergers and my younger brother has autism)

∙ 8y agoThe only real difference between Autism Spectrum Disorder and Asperger Syndrome is that with the former there is a developmental delay - but as all children develop differently this alone is not considered enough to regard Asperger Syndrome as a separate distinct disorder. Asperger Syndrome is no longer recommended as a diagnosis for Autistic people, although it persists because it is falsely viewed as a less severe form of autism. Asperger Syndrome was also a popular diagnosis for Autistic people because it was less shocking for parents or individuals to hear this diagnosis over autism.
