Writing to Hard Disk Drive (HDD)

At the most basic level when a computer writes anything to any media, even going back to the old "floppy" disks, it is in bits and bytes which are simply positive and negative images electronically recorded on the physical media. Some are one time only like a CD, others can be rewritten, some information can only be accessed sequentially, others must have an index.

Hard dirves are made up of bits and bytes, sectors, files, indexes and they all inter-relate to store the information.

The disk drive head writes a magnetic pattern onto the spinning metallic disk similar (but at a much greater speed & density), to the way the old floppy disks worked. A modern disk drive has several individual disks contained in one drive, on the same spindle, and multiple heads between the disks to achieve todays mega and gigabyte capacities, and speed. The head does NOT contact the media, but actually flies above the disk, analogous to a jet flying over a runway at full speed without ever landing. A "touch and go landing" of the drive's head would permanently damage the disk.

Information is stored on a computer's hard drive with the use of binary, or the system in which data is stored through an intricate series of 0's and 1's. These 0's and 1's are very much like on and off switches, triggering either a stop or flow of electrical energy.

Something to do with the magnetic coating, look that up and you'll get a better idea. I;m doing the same thing, trying to figure that out.

data in hard disk is stored in binary form(0's & 1's).hard disk is made up of ferromagnetic material(it can be magnetized and demagnetized).

the read/write head present in hard disk magnetizes the platter.thus data is stored in it.deletion is done by demagnetizing the particular sector and track.

Information is stored in the computer's hard drive, which is a magnetic disk read by lasers.

The drive on your computer where information is stored?

The drive where your computer stores information permanently is known as a hard disk drive, or HDD for short.

Most of the programs and info the CPU and computer uses to Boot are mostly from the Hard Drive. The Hard Drive is mostly where all of the instructions come from.

How does a Backup tape work?

A backup tape works by copying information from a computer and storing it. If something happens to a computer or a hard drive, a backup tape still has the information that was also stored on the hard drive of a computer.

What is the data hard drive?

The data hard drive or just hard drive is where all your programs are stored when your computer is shut down. Every progam you see on your computer is stored on the hard drive. That's why the bigger the hard drive the more programs you can put on your computer.

How do you run the data on your computer?

Information on a computer is stored in the hard drive. When you turn on your computer it takes information from the hard drive and puts it in the RAM (random access memory). In the RAM information like operating system and programs are run. When you turn off the computer the information in the RAM is either saved back to the hard drive or deleted. (That's the short version)

What are the things that rotate inside a computer?

The main thing that rotates inside a computer is the hard drive. The hard drive is a disk that stores all your computer's information. The information is stored magnetically, this is why a magnet can be so damaging to a computer. Also, there are fans inside a computer that help cool the components.

Permanant information is stored in hard drives, usb drives, cds, dvds and the temporary information is stored in RAM (Random Access Memory).

Any data that needs to be stored for temporary or permanent use, is saved onto the platters of the computer's internal hard drive, or on an external hard drive/flash drive.
