they melt it then mold it will still liquid!!!!!!!!!!!

Rubber is a thermoset (i.e., it hardens when heated and cannot melt) resin, the latex (i.e., uncured rubber), and a vulcanization agent are mixed and injected into the mold which is then heated to cure and vulcanize the rubber.

In making things like tires that need fiber belts, etc. molded into them, the latex is partially precured into wide ribbons by heat, then workers or machines wind alternating layers of latex ribbon, vulcanization agent, fiber belt, etc., the assembled tire is placed in a mold and heated to finish curing and vulcanizing the rubber.

First, there are two different kinds of rubber:

  1. natural rubber - it comes from the sap (latex) of the rubber tree
  2. synthetic rubber - in comes from petrochemicals

Both types of rubber are long chain polymers. The hardness and durability of rubber is improved by a process called "vulcanization" which mixes sulfur with the raw rubber at high temperature to produce sulfur crosslinks between the polymer chains.

AbstractCorrelations are drawn between the morphological features of high-impact polystyrene (HIPS), bubble assemblies, adipose tissue, pith and foams. It is concluded that their morphological forms are the same and that similar interfacial tensile forces are responsible for the HIPS morphology as for the others. The synthesis of HIPS, from a solution of rubber in styrene, is discussed in terms of a phase diagram and it is concluded that the mechanism is consistent with the generation of that characteristic morphology throughout the sample in the absence of stirring and in resticted volume elements in the presence of stirring during polymerization of the styrene. An example is quoted of the generation of the same morphology in a blend prepared by mixing immiscible solutions of a homopolymer and a copolymer.
