i believe that animals spend all of their lives in the testinglabs. don't you think it's sad when a rabbit goes blind from mascara testing. some rodents get tumors from testing and the results come back little relevance to humans!
There is no set answer to this question. Some are kept for years, others just months. Some die a lot sooner than others because of the abuse they suffer. Monkeys can be kept for a very long time. It's normally rats and rabbits etc that don't last long in those places.
