Firstly, the proper question is how long they will stay in one place or nest or something like that. A habitat is not the place, the home or burrow; it is the kind of place they inhabit, for example, forest, or desert, up trees or underground etc.

Secondly, there are thousands of kinds of ants and every species has different habits. Most will stay in the same burrow or nest for a season or a few seasons depending on the food supply and how long the queen lasts. Some will stay in that one place for generations, with many queens at a time replacing each other for years as the old ones die (Argentine ants are an example).

Some of the army ants and soldier ants, such as Dorylus and Eciton, are on the move nearly all the time. For a while they may stay in one spot overnight, or for a few nights, then they may settle down in one spot for a few weeks while they hatch a lot of eggs and raise the larvae. Then it is back to the wandering life while they look for food animals to hunt in new places.
