The minimum education requirement for a teacher is a Bachelor's degree. That is, it will take minimum four years to complete your education for a teaching degree. It is likely to take longer the more specialized you are. Typically, you may teach in your major and minor areas. However, you will be required to take courses within your desired educational level. For instance, if you hope to be an elementary teacher, you will be required to take classes in primary ed. If you are hoping to be a middle school or high school teacher, you may be required to take courses in middle level education and/or secondary ed. It is similar to declaring a double major, but earning a degree in only one.

Additionally, primary ed. teachers may major in any area ans still be permitted to teach any level of elementary education, K-6th grade. However, secondary level teachers may only teach in their major or minor area.

Each state has different probationary periods; Texas has a porbationary period of three years for each school district (if you change school districts, the three years start over). However, teachers are VERY rarely let go unless there is gross misconduct. Teachers have the option of terminating their contract at the end of each school year or re-signing for the next school year. Most teachers work until they are 60-65. Many retire and then re-hire to get two paychecks per month.

Generaly around 20+ years. It really depends on the teacher and if you're also asking if they stay on the one subject they are teaching. Most teachers do not stay on one subject, but go into numerous ones.

If you are referring to the number of years a teacher can work before they retire then the answer is determined by the number of years a person chooses to work. However, there are a variety of retirement plans for teachers as well and each option will effect the amount of money a person has upon retiring as well as how many years should be put in.

Then again if you are asking how many years a teacher must work to reach the top of the payscale it depends on whether or not they continue their education. A teacher can reach the top of the payscale if they have their masters degree plus an additional 90 credits by the time they have worked for 16 years.

This information may vary from state to state, but this information is for Eastern Washington state.

Do teachers live at school?

No, teachers do not live at school unless it's a boarding school or something like that. Even though most teachers do stay at least an hour or two after school to grade papers and do other things, they do not live at the school as long as it's something like a public school where they teach at. Teachers have personal lives, too.
