Modern technology can detect whether or not a person has had any alcohol in the past 3 or 4 days. It is called the alcohol etg test, or the 80 hour alcohol test. You see even after ethanol is metabolized by the body, there is a leftover chemical, or metabolite, and it's this chemical that they test for, and that's how they can tell that you have ingested alcohol up to 3 or 4 days before the etg test. Just look it up on the internet under 80 hour alcohol test, or alcohol etg test. This is the most advanced test they have up to now, as far as the saliva test, I don't know.

Once you have finished drinking, It takes about 12 to 15 hours to clear your breath as i was tested in hospital overnight with one hope this helps x

And doctors wont see you if the score is above 0.3 and it felt like forever to get there :/

Additional: The average adult body can process approximately 1 ounce of alchohol per hour. You can do the math by figuring the number of drinks (and their strength) that you consumed.

It depends on the amount in the bloodstream. Alcohol leaves the body at the rate of about .015 of BAC per hour.
