It varies with each person. The severity, swelling, itching, redness, welts all are allergic reactions to the secretions the BedBug uses to feed from a person.

When a BedBug starts to feed their saliva contains an anesthetic to keep their victims from feeling pain and waking up. The other chemical that is present is a mild anticoagulant that allows your blood to flow into their bodies easier.

At one end are some people that are not allergic at all and may not even know they have been attacked. At the other end of the spectrum are the people that are very allergic. In some cases the bites have even brought on Asthma attacks and hospitalization.

For everyone else typically the bites will go away in 3 to 4 days.

As with any insect bite DO NOT Scratch. It greatly increases the possibility of infections. Lotions and creams will help sooth the pain and relieve the itching.
